Motocross-lajiryhmä on käynyt läpi FIM:n 7.12.2017 julkaiseman kalenteriversion ja sen perusteella päivittänyt kauden 2018 kotimaisen motocross-kalenterin.

Kotimaisen motocross-kalenterin suunnittelussa pyritään mahdollistamaan EM- ja MM-sarjoissa kilpailevien kuljettajien osallistuminen myös SM-sarjaan.Kauden 2017 paras SM-osakilpailun järjestäjä, Alavudenseudun Moottoriurheilijat, sai palkinnoksi oikeuden valita haluamansa ajankohdan kalenterista. Tämä kilpailu on siis ”lukittu” kalenteriin.



Kauden 2017 paras motocross-liigan järjestäjä, Orimattilan Moottorikerho, sai palkinnoksi valita, haluaako järjestää kaudella 2018 motocross-liigan osakilpailun haluamanaan ajankohtana vai vaihtoehtoisesti järjestää SM-osakilpailun. Orimattilan Moottorikerho valitsi SM-osakilpailun. Kilpailua ei ole vielä merkitty kalenteriin, koska ko. kilpailun sijoittelu kalenteriin päätetään kalenterin viimeistelyn yhteydessä.



Käytännössä tämä tarkoittaa, että kaksi kuudesta SM-osakilpailusta on tässä vaiheessa jaettu ja neljän kilpailun osalta päätös tehdään hakuajan päätyttyä.
